Meet Sheri

Hi, I’m Sheri!  I’m excited to join the team at Jersey Behavior Consulting.  I have spent the past 16 years working within New Jersey public schools serving students with moderate to severe behavioral and mental health needs.  I have also worked in residential settings and provided both mental health and behavioral services to children in their homes.

Prior to obtaining my certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2011, I attended Chestnut Hill College where I completed my Master of Science in Counseling and Human Services with a concentration in Psychological Trauma.  My strong background in mental health has always steered my practice as a BCBA to provide compassionate care that focuses on much more than observable behavior.

Throughout my career in the school system I have prided myself on being an advocate for Trauma Informed Care. I have received extensive training in Ross Greene’s evidenced based Collaborative Proactive Solutions (CPS) model which focuses on helping children not only build the skills they need but also creates a framework that invites them to become a stakeholder in their own plans and have a voice in their own solutions. I also utilize the Zones of Regulation in my practice to help kids identify their regulation needs and to provide education for caregivers to better understand how dysregulation affects the whole person..

As a school based BCBA I was also charged with providing Professional Development to teachers and paraprofessionals.  I was responsible for the implementation of various curriculums including CPS and Safety Care by doing initial training and providing in-class coaching to help school personnel manage the behavior in their classrooms that resulted from dysregulation or skill deficits.  I have been committed to moving away from compliance based practices towards connection and engagement that leads to intrinsic motivation for kids to make changes and reach their goals.
